Police commander Paul Grüninger from St. Gallen enabled just before the outbreak of the Second World War, despite a closing of the Swiss border, for hundreds of Jewish refugees to escape into Switzerland. An investigation revealed a help system with forged documents and assistance for illegal border crossing. Grüninger risked his position and reputation in order to save lives. He was summarily dismissed, condemned and ostracized. In 1995, he was politically rehabilitated. With the movie 'Just One Step', a cinematic monument will be set now to him. Historic prop on the movie set at the border bridge Wiesenrain. The road is deliberately soiled. Lustenau-Widnau, May 4, 2013.
