Broughty Ferry is the oldest station in Scotland still on the same site, having been opened by the Dundee & Arbroath Railway on 8 October 1838. The service here was very poor for years, consisting only of a couple of peak hours trains each way, but even then usage was growing. That there was a demand was shown as the service improved to be around hourly, such that passenger numbers grew from 5362 in 2010-11 to 124,000 in 2023-24 (see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broughty_Ferry_railway_station).
A Class 158 DMU calls at the northbound platform with a Dundee to Arbroath stopping train. Although there is a level crossing here, there is also a subway, partly seen in the foreground.
