A late-season spring storm is building up over the Santa Lucias. The Cambria coast is still in sunlight, but not for long. Just as I reached my car, a rain shower began.
You can see here why Cambria residents were so intent on preserving the old Fiscalini Ranch as open space. The Fiscalini heirs, sons and daughters of pioneer dairy farmers, needed cash to pay their inheritance taxes. A developer made an attractive offer. Fortunately, a consortium of conservation groups were able to match it, and the land was preserved as a permanent County park.
