We saw two sows, each with three cubs, in Katmai National Park, Alaska, after landing in a float plane with Sea Hawk Air on a river near a grassy flat that was just above the coastal beach. This trio of cubs is noticeably younger than the first group we saw. The cubs stayed very close to their mother.
In the previous photo the sow can be seen nursing her cubs.
Although it is hundreds of meters from the beach, the driftwood in the background indicates that it at one time was carried all that way by wave action.
