A male - this is the breeding season for the birds. They could be easily sighted carrying nesting materials, loud complex songs where the males are trying hard to woo the female. The males outnumber the species per my many sightings but atleast a factor of 2. Females spot a greyish plumage instead of the bluish-black seen in the males.
These birds are very active from morning till noon after which they could still be seen usually perched on a tree. Magpie Robins are lower canopy birds and also perch on ledges, wires etc.. closer to the ground.
