Der Laacher-See-Vulkan ist heute noch aktiv. Blasenbildungen im östlichen Uferbereich zeigen den Austritt von Kohlendioxid, der mancherorts so stark ist wie bei einer geöffneten Sprudelflasche. Diese Gasaustritte werden Mofetten genannt.
The Laacher See volcano is still active today. Bubble formation in the eastern bank area shows the escape of carbon dioxide, which in some places is as strong as an open soda bottle. These gas outlets are called mofettes.
