This is the view south-east from the restaurant perched right over Queenstown, which looks, on a dark night, from the town, like it is just floating in air. I was in the greatest and most chronic pain I have been in in my life when I took this photo, although I may have led a sheltered life. I was actually weighing up the advantages of taking all my clothes off so I could think about and feel how extremely cold I was, as opposed to thinking about and feeling how egregiously sore my leftside gluteus maximus was. But I kept my clothes on and tried focussing, Zen-like, on the transcience of all physical phenomena.
